September 2021 Harvest Focus : The Fishermen’s Mission
This year the Christ Church, Epsom Missions teams have decided to support The Fisherman’s Missions charity for our Harvest beneficiary.
The Fishermen’s Mission is the only fishermen’s charity that provides emergency support alongside practical, financial, spiritual and emotional care. They help all fishermen, active or retired, and their families.
The Fisherman’s Missions main duties include :
· Looking after survivors of fishing emergencies or accidents
· Helping injured or ill fisherman
· Helping bereaved families who have lost a fisherman at sea
· Offering emergency grants to fishermen in times of need and poverty
· Meeting the rescue teams & helping with accommodation, food, clothing etc
· Providing Christian pastoral & practical care with problems such as debt, sickness, loneliness, bereavement etc
The above support is in your average year, but the industry has had further difficulties over the past 18 months with the advent of COVID and BREXIT.
