Safeguarding

The Anglican Church in England and Wales was one of 15 investigations by IICSA, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. The report was published in October 2020.

Here at Christ Church we make the safeguarding of our whole community a priority. For us to be a Living Well, and a community who are living well, we need to do our best to ensure that people are led, supported and guided in a safe and appropriate way.

Therefore we have adopted “Promoting a Safer Church”, (the Church of England’s Safeguarding Policy for children, young people and adults) and Disclosure & Barring Checks and regular training are completed within guidelines set by the Diocese of Guildford.  Our pastoral team, clergy and safeguarding officer meet regularly and our Parochial Church Council include safeguarding on their agenda at every meeting.

Vigilance is key and church members are encouraged to raise concerns, past or present, to the Vicar, Safeguarding Officer or directly to the Diocese of Guildford at any time.
