Funerals

Times of bereavement and loss can be very intense and stressful. We aim to offer comfort and prayer support to you through what can be a very difficult time. All of our staff team seeks to provide a comprehensive and personal service.

For funeral arrangements, please approach your funeral director, who will liaise with us.

Memorial Service

We hold a special service each year, usually on the 3rd Sunday of November near to All Souls time, when all those who have gone before us in the faith are remembered. We especially invite families of those whose funerals have been held at Christ Church in the previous year, along with anyone known to us who has been bereaved in our congregations.

It is an opportunity to offer continued pastoral support as well as providing an occasion to grieve that is slightly removed from the pressures of a funeral. Familiar hymns and readings are used and people are invited to light a candle for their loved ones. It is a sensitive and quiet space for reflection and mourning as well as demonstrating empathy for those going through the pain of loss. Many find this a comforting and supportive occasion. We also read a Roll of Honour at this service as well as on the Sunday nearest All Souls day itself.
