The disciples have been given the helper - the Holy Spirit - and the first 'gift' that they have been given to help them spread the Good News is the ability to speak in many languages to the many different nations Jews gathered in Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost.  What brilliant planning!  This week we learn from Matthew 28 16-20 about Jesus giving them the authority to go out and do this 'job'.

If you think about this reading, and the reading when Jesus meets the first disciples, he is already telling them what he wants them to do - 'to be fishers of men.'
