African Revival A UK based charity founded in 2005. Over the past four years the organisation has supported a series of successful development projects within seven countries, and now continues in its mission to provide assistance to poor communities in East & Southern Africa through appropriate, effective and sustainable education and income generating projects. Latest News 2010 was a great year for African Revival. Over the past 5 years since African Revival has been a registered charity, supporters have helped African Revival to make a difference to over 250,000 lives! In the Sudan lives changed in just 12 weeks! The Christ Town Primary School is now a fully functioning school, with 3 equipped classroom blocks and 3 blocks of modern latrines, not only do the children now have a fantastic space to learn in, their health is also protected thanks to the santiation delivered. When African Revival first started working with Cubu Primary school in Uganda, the school did not have the resources to partake in Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Now, they are amongst the highest performing school in their division, with an astouding 100% pass rate amongst the 2010 candidates! Cubu is an example of how a rural school within a porr community does ot have to accept defeat or give into struggle. Teachers, pupils, parents and community members have persevered and used AR's support in the best way possible. African Revival's performance enhancements projects are also going on in Bwobomanam and Juba Road Primary Schools, which are all showing success. African Revival has been working with Kinnertone Primary School in Southern Zambia for the past 4 years. When the school was set up in 1995, it was little more than a single open-sided classroom with a thatched roof and dirt floor. By 2008, the community had gathered enough money to start constructing a single roomed brick classroom building, however, funds ran out before it could be completed. In early 2009, African Revival funded the completion of the building and drilled a borehold close to the school, giving the children and teachers access to clean and safe water. Last year saw yet mor echanges at Kinnertone, with AR helping to extend the school builidng and make it into a double classroom block with an office. The work was completed in August 2010 and AR funirhsed the new classrooms. Programmes in Uganda are ever expanding. With new dunding from the EU, African Revival are working in partnership with other chartities in Northern Uganda to start up the 'Farmers for the Future' project where demonstraton gardens are created to help teachers build a practical element into the agricultural curriculum. Thank you to all our supporters at Christ Church Epsom, who help African Revival with this on-going essential work where it is most needed |
